Annual Report 2019-2020

The academic session 2019-2020 commenced on 1st April 2019 with a handful of hopes and expectations. This session has been a very eventful one for us. We strived hard to meet the desired objectives and have been extremely successful in most of our endeavors. Apart from preparing the children to achieve in academic domains, special efforts havebeen made to enable them to face the challenges of the competitive world. 
A workshop was organised in our school by the resource person of Pearson Indian Education Services Pvt. Ltd,Dr. Ganga Mahtoon the topicof “Classroom Management” on 29th April, 2019. The major areas of classroom management discussedbytheresource person were:Challenges faced by the teacher in the class, Importance of teamwork in school management, Multidimensional assessment techniques for different categories of students in a class
andteaching methodologies.
The General Body Meeting was held on 17th June,2019. Decisions were taken on various matters pertaining to academicand extracurricular activities. Various instructions were given for the smooth functioning of the school.
The school offered a plethora of opportunities through Wednesday club activities exclusively for Montessori students and Saturday club activities for the students of remaining classes.Club activities  inspire and motivate our children to come out with their creative output, i.e. artistic, literary, and oratorical. 
Ourschool moulds the global citizens of tomorrow by cultivating skills among the scholars which include leadership,  communication, teamwork and social etiquette. To facilitate this a scholars senate is formed. The investiture ceremony of the selected senate was held on 13th July, 2019. The principal,Mrs. Lissy Louis, Chairperson, Mrs. ParulSahuKeshri and Director,Mr. NeerajKesharwaniadministered the oath to the senate.Toppers in BoardExams were felicitated with scholarships.

GIS recognizes the academic achievement of its scholars in the form of academic excellence award. The shining stars got felicitated with the academic excellence awards  for their performance in the previous academic year.

73rd Independence Day was celebrated inour school with patriotic fervor.We started the day by hoisting the Indian Flag by the principal Mrs.Lissy Louis, which was followed by a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem by our choir. We paid our tribute to the brave freedom fighters through patrioticsongs and skit.Speecheswere presented by the students in English and Hindi.
Schools can have a profound impact on communities by teaching kids how to be environmental stewards for a lifetime. To create a campus wide culture of conservation, we organized Green Earth Venture on24th August,2019in which 5000 saplings were distributed to the parents.
5th September  is dedicated to Dr. SarvepalliRadhakrishnan – the second President of India who was a great academic philosopher and one of the most well-known diplomat, scholar, President of India and above all a teacher.We celebrated Teacher’s day with great fun and enthusiasm. The program kick-started with a prayer dance followed by atalk by the principal and chairperson highlighting the contribution of teachers in a student’s life. A video wasdisplayed showcasing the affection and bond that holds the members of the Greatmen family.Thereafter, the teachers indulged in fun filled activities. Teacher Excellence Awards were given to those educators who have demonstrated leadership and have shown commitment in promoting excellence in teaching and learning. Mr. RavindraNayak, Ms. SagarikaJaimini and Ms. Deepthi Singh bagged the awards. The day came to an end with memories to cherish forever.
Annual Exhibition was organized by the school on 22nd October, 2019.The students left the parents spellbound with their amazing innovations.The exhibition seeks to engage children  to gather experiences and motivate each other to design and develop something novel in the formof art, pottery, sculpture, models and culinary stuffs.
Children’s Day was celebrated in our school on14th November 2019, with great pomp and show. The students arrived at school, dressed in colorful clothes. The teachers apprised the students of the life and work of Jawaharlal Nehru. To celebrate the day, teachers presented group song, skit and puppet show. Special games were also organised for the students. 
The much awaited Annual Sports Day was held on29thNovember 2019, with great zeal and frolicsome atmosphere. The programme began with the Principal Mrs. Lissy Louis welcoming the esteemed gathering and emphasised on the importance of sports in a child's life. The chief guest, Mrs.ParulSahuKeshri, our director, Mr.NeerajKesharwaniand Principal, Mrs. LissyLouis also took the salute of the March Past of the students. The oath was administered by the school head boy and an energizing equestrian display set the tone for the rest of the event. The students mesmerized the audience with their energetic performances. Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes.Students of various classes competed in events including sprints, relays,  obstacle race,tug-of-war etc. The overall champion trophy was awarded to Dhanvantari house, best march past trophy was awarded to Aryabhatta house, Chanakya house got the discipline trophy and girls display titled “Kashmir to Kanyakumari” bagged the best display trophy.
A workshop was organised in our school by the resource person of RatnaSagarPvt. Ltd, Dr. Uma Maheshwarion the topicof “Life Skills and Remodeled Structure of Assessment” on 14th December , 2019.
Christmas is the festival which inspires the spirit of sharing and caring.Immersed  in the spirit of Christmas,the students of our school celebrated the festival with enthusiasm on 20thDecember, 2019.The school was beautifully decorated and everybody was dressed in red and white costume. The principal Mrs. Lissy Louis delivered a short speech explaining the significance of Christmas. The students sang melodious carols and danced beautifully. Skit depicting the life of Jesus Christ was also enacted by the students. The boundless joy of celebrating the festival was visible on the faces of the children when Santa moved around distributing sweets to them.
The 71st Republic Day was celebrated on 26thJanuary, 2020  at the school grounds. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity and brotherhood. The event began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the director Mr. NeerajKesharwani and the principal Mrs. Lissy Louis,  followed by the National Anthem. The school echoed with patriotic fervour.
BasantPanjami was celebrated in our school on 29th January, 2020. The teachers came beautifully decked up in yellow attire. The celebration commenced with SarawatiPujanfollowed by divine rendition of Shlokas and SarawatiVandana. Students offered spring flowers to goddess Sarawati.
We are planning to organize the farewell party tentatively on 26th March 2020. The unique feature of our farewellprogram is the Octa Adieu Awards presented to the outgoing batch on their farewell day where students are identified for their exceptional charismas and traits.We are planning to make it nostalgic event.
